Two seasons, two atmospheres: Grimaud’s fireworks display

In Grimaud, pyrotechnic tradition is a living heritage celebrated throughout the year. From the colorful flashes over the sea in midsummer to the luminous enchantment of a winter’s evening, the village lives to the rhythm of these celestial rendezvous.

The summer show on August 15

Every August 15, Grimaud’s grand fireworks display is the highlight of the Village Festival. The program is part of a day of commemoration and celebration. After the morning ceremonies, the evening features two different atmospheres:

  • In the village: a concert livens up the Place de l’Église, an ideal place to admire the view over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and to look forward to the festivities in a friendly, musical atmosphere.
  • In port: at 10:30 pm, fireworks are launched from the Port Grimaud beach. It’s an unmissable seaside party, a magical moment that lights up the entire coastline.

Theatmosphere is twofold and complementary:

Up in the village, families and friends gather on the Place de l’Église, enjoying concerts and food stalls in a warm atmosphere.

Down below, on the sands of Port Grimaud, the atmosphere is more seaside: feet in the water, waiting for the event to begin, enjoying the mild evening, gazing out to sea.

Winter magic: Christmas fireworks

Grimaud also lights up as winter approaches. At the end of December, another Grimaud fireworks display warms hearts.

As part of the “Les Ailes d’Hiver” festivities, a pyrotechnic show is fired over the Saint-Roch mill, an emblematic monument in the village.

The festivities begin at dusk, around 6:00 pm, and are often accompanied by circus scenes, the presence of Santa Claus and a warm atmosphere.

It’s an opportunity for families to get together over mulled wine, chocolate or roasted chestnuts, in the pure tradition of Provence’s end-of-year festivities.

Grimaud: a village to discover between two festivals

The fireworks are highlights of the year, but your stay in Grimaud is also an opportunity to discover the two faces of this unique place, between medieval history and maritime atmosphere.

The medieval village and its history

Take a step back in time and discover the historic village of Grimaud. Stroll along its cobbled, flower-filled streets, lined with stone houses with doors framed in black lava or serpentinite.

The climb to the ruins of the medieval castle, a listed historic monument, is amust. This emblematic site reveals an exceptional panorama of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, an ideal vantage point at sunset.

A little way away, the grounds of the Notre-Dame de la Queste chapel, a major pilgrimage site mentioned as far back as the XIᵉ century, invite you to take a peaceful stroll under century-old oak trees, in the heart of a preserved natural setting.

Port Grimaud, the “Venice of Provence

Change atmosphere and discover Port Grimaud, the lakeside city designed by architect François Spoerry. Here, streets become canals and cars give way to boats.

Take a ride on one of these electric boats, which glide silently through the aquatic labyrinth. You can also hire your own boat to go at your own pace.

Stroll around the market square, admire the colorful facades, then relax on the sandy beaches that line the city, with a breathtaking view of Saint-Tropez.
