Reason no. 1: discover an ancient village steeped in history
The first good reason to visit Cogolin is its old town center. Schedule a stroll here and you’ll be able to contemplate the tightly-packed houses, vaulted passageways and ancient stones that tell the story of the village. You’ll also enjoy discovering the Tour de l’Horloge, which once marked one of the entrances to Cogolin in the XIVᵉ century. A little further on, you’ll reach thechurch of Saint-Sauveur, built between the 15th and 16th centuries. What’s more, during your walk you’ll contemplate fountains from the XIXᵉ century. And you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of trompe-l’oeil frescoes on some of the façades. Your walk naturally ends at the Place de l’Ormeau, often bustling with life during markets and festivals.
